Dear fellow writers and readers, all of you in our writing and reading community.

It is with great sadness we have to share with you that our beloved Jane Wenham-Jones, inspiration and ‘Writer’s Bottom’ inventor (well, at least coined the phrase, said bottom is all yours – and mine!), has passed away.

Jane died peacefully at home on Sunday 22nd August 2021. We all will dearly miss her sparkling presence, her humour, her endless encouragement and continuous support for budding writers.

Only three days before, her what now will be last, novel, Old Enough to Know Better, came out in paperback. We have shared her posts, her excitement, love reading her heart-warming, hilarious, and emotive novel, as most of her books set in Thanet, where Jane lived.

Jane not only wrote novels and non-fiction (her Wannabe a Writer? books have inspired and motivated many a starting writer), but was also a presenter, interviewer, journalist, and newspaper columnist as well as an Agony Aunt for Writing Magazine.

We would like to express our thanks and gratitude for all you have done and been for Jane. After landing her first publishing contract, Jane said, “Bring on the Champagne.” Let’s honour her memory and celebrate her life by raising our glass. Cheers. Here’s to you, Jane xx

On behalf of her family, Caroline Vincent
